How To Play

Place the 5 company cards face-up on the surface where you are playing. Separate all money cards from the deck.

In a 3-player game, take 1 stock card out of the deck and without looking at it, place it back into the pouch. It will not be used during this game. Then, give each player four +1/-1 tokens.

In a 4-player game, take 1 stock card from the deck at random and place it face-down to start the Buy Pile. Give each player three +1/-1 tokens and one 2-dollar bill card, this card is their starting hand.

Penny Stocks is split into two main parts of the game: the Dividends Phase and the Stock Auction Phase.

Shuffle the money and stock cards together to form the deck. Begin with the youngest player and going clockwise, each player will take turns. On their turn, the starting player will do the following:

  1. In a 3-player game draw 2 cards, in a 4-player game draw 3 cards. Choose 1 card to keep and place into your hand, then place the other cards face-up to create the Market.
  2. Then draw 2 more cards, place 1 face-up into the Market and 1 face-down into the Buy Pile.
  3. In turn order, the other players will now each select 1 card that was placed into the Market and put it into their hands. After all cards are taken from the Market, the turn ends.

Players continue taking turns until there are no cards left in the deck. Proceed to the Stock Auction Phase.

In this phase, players will have the opportunity to bid for the cards that were placed in the Buy Pile.

The starting player shuffles the Buy Pile and flips the top card face-up. They then pass the Buy Pile to the next player in clock-wise turn order. The revealed card is now available for sale and can be bid on by players. Starting with the player who flipped the card, and continuing in clockwise turn order, players may bid an amount of money that they are willing to pay for the revealed stock. Players may not bid an amount higher than the money they have in their hand. The highest bidder discards money cards of the amount they bid face-up (change is not given!) then adds the acquired stock to their hand.

If a card is not bid on, it is removed from the game. This phase ends when the Buy Pile is empty, or all players are out of money cards.
If players run out of money cards, any remaining cards are removed from the game.

After the Stock Auction Phase, the game ends. Players must now determine the orientation of the stock cards they have in their hand. After players determine which companyโ€™s stock they are keeping, all players simultaneously reveal their hands.

Each player who has the greatest value of stocks in a company, gains ownership of that company. Add the company values for each player, and the player with the highest overall value wins!
